Graduate Financial Aid

Applicants in both art history and archaeology may be eligible for the Huggins and Gregory Fellowships, which are awarded to entering students through a campuswide competition; minority applicants may be eligible for the Ridgel Fellowship.

More advanced students may be awarded the departmental Herbert Schooling Fellowship or the John Pickard Fellowship. Those in classical archaeology are eligible for the Walter Miller Fellowship, which is available every other year. Holders of these fellowships may, with proper consent, hold additional grants not to exceed $1000 or may hold teaching assistantships.

Other resources include the Edzard Baumann Traveling Fellowship in European art, the Irina Hans Fellowship in art history, and the Osmund Overby Fund for research in American art, architecture, and historic preservation. The Saul and Gladys Weinberg Traveling Fellowship is available to advanced students in classical archaeology

In addition, several teaching assistantships, which carry stipends of about $4500 plus full waiver of fees and require 13-15 hours of work per week, are available. Fee remissions and/or waivers of out-of-state tuition are available to holders of fellowships and assistantships.

The application deadline for financial aid is January 18.
